A while ago Ben brought home some dried slabs of PVA glue from the book center he was volunteering at. They had a huge jug of PVA and the bottom would harden. I used it for the pink and yellow painting above (the glue slab is what the face is on). I decided I wanted more of this gluey medium, but how to recreate it? Googling ‘dried slab of glue’ didn’t help. I poured about 1/4 of a gallon jug of Elmer’s school glue onto a baking sheet coated with shellack. I checked on it after a day and it hadn’t dried at all! I blow dried it, put it in the oven on low heat, and put it on a griddle in different intervals to speed up the process. After a full week it dried enough that I could slice the edges and spatula off my glue piece!I’m pretty happy with the results. I want to try again with homemade PVA glue.
